Half-day & full-day

Authentic sailing days from Rhodes

Sailing trips in Rhodes are skippered day experiences on monohull yachts — half-day coastal hops or full-day routes when the wind allows.

No sailing experience needed: the skipper handles the boat while you swim, sunbathe and enjoy the ride. If you hold a licence and want to skipper yourself, we arrange bareboat charter separately.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about sailing day trips. For weekly charter see yacht charter or the full FAQ.

What is the best month for sailing in Rhodes?

May, June, September and early October are the best months for sailing around Rhodes if you want warm sea, lighter winds and quieter anchorages without peak-summer crowds. July and August bring the strong Meltemi north winds, often Force four to seven, which experienced sailors enjoy for brisk passages but which can tire relaxed cruisers and families with young children.

What is the Meltemi wind and does it affect my trip?

The Meltemi is a dry north-westerly wind that blows across the Aegean from late June through August, often reaching Force four to seven on exposed waters. On Rhodes east coast, where many day trips run, the island provides shelter and trips remain pleasant in many bays while open crossings toward Symi or Halki feel rougher.

Do I need any sailing experience?

No, all our sailing trips include a professional skipper who handles the boat, reads weather and chooses anchorages. You are welcome to help with steering or raising sails if you wish, but you can also relax entirely with no prior experience. These are guest-friendly days, not sailing school unless you request learning time. Life jackets and a safety briefing are included on every departure.

Where can you sail to from Rhodes?

Day sailing trips often explore the east coast toward Lindos, Kalithea, Anthony Quinn Bay and Faliraki with swim stops and lunch ashore or onboard. Half-day sails may stay closer to Mandraki bays and Kalithea Springs when time or wind limits range. Multi-day itineraries from Rhodes reach Symi in roughly ninety minutes in fair conditions, plus Tilos, Halki and Nisyros on longer legs of three to four hours.

Where do sailing trips depart from?

Most sailing day trips depart from Mandraki Harbour in Rhodes Town, below the medieval walls and within walking distance of the Old Town, the same hub used by many cruises and private boats. Some east-coast day sails leave from Faliraki or Kolymbia to shorten transfer time for guests staying there.

What should I bring on a sailing trip?

Pack light and practical: soft-soled shoes without black soles that mark decks, high-SPF sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, a light windbreaker or long sleeve because it feels cooler on the water than on the beach, and swimwear under comfortable clothes. We provide towels, snorkel gear, water and snacks on most day trips, confirm in your quote.
